Our team removed the existing roofing system and rebuilt it The Klaus Roofing Way, ensuring everything was installed properly from the base up. We incorporated doubled and stepped caps for added durability and a cleaner finish. The roof was completed with IKO Dynasty shingles in Granite Black, paired with white drip edge for contrast and finished with black fieldstone chimney flashing to tie everything together.

Regina in Rhinebeck, NY, reached out after experiencing leaking during a winter storm when ice dams formed along the roof. The issue developed after the home’s heat strips failed during heavy snowfall, preventing proper melting and allowing ice buildup to form near the right rear section of the home. Because the snow was not cleared in time, water backed up beneath the shingles and entered the house around the vaulted ceiling area.

After inspecting the property, our team found that the main attic space was already fairly well insulated, so the focus of the project became improving ventilation to help the roofing system perform more effectively moving forward. To address airflow concerns, we closed off select gable vents and installed new mid-roof SmartRidge ventilation along with ridge vents to create a more balanced ventilation system throughout the home.

SealoronXT Ice & Water Shield was installed throughout that section along with VeloraONE Roof Underlayment and SealoronXT Deck Tape beneath the new roofing materials for added moisture defense.

The home was finished with IKO Dynasty shingles in Brownstone, along with matching brown drip edge metal and brown chimney flashing to complement both chimney structures on the property.

The completed roof now provides improved ventilation, updated weather protection, and a much stronger defense against future ice dam-related issues while maintaining the home’s overall appearance.
