Metal Roofing & Gutter Installations in Putnam County, NY

This home had two layers of shingles, with the first set installed in the 70s and the second layer installed in the early 2000s. The attic was so small it could not be inspected properly, but we let the homeowner know of the possibility that we would have to replace sheets of plywood upon tear-off.

When our rep went into the attic of this home, he noticed water damage to the extent that the wood would need to be replaced. When inspecting the roof on the outside, it was soft and wavy due to the water damage!

This roof in Carmel, NY was in pretty bad shape. There were multiple holes in the plywood on the roof deck because they used oriented strand board (OSB). OSB is similar to particle board and made up of strands of wood glued together; it is cheaper than plywood but is also thinner, retains more moisture, and degrades faster than plywood. We gave them an entirely new deck of half-inch plywood along with a full roof replacement!

This home was very old and had several repairs done, leading to mismatching sections of the roof. They had storm damage last year and finally decided to replace their roof. They also opted for Raindrop Gutter Protection to help with their debris problem.

This was an interesting roof to replace, as the upper part of the home had cedar shake beneath the asphalt shingles! Due to that, we had to replace their entire roof deck because cedar shakes are installed on furring strips, which have gaps in between that are several inches wide. This was done to allow the wood to breathe, but asphalt shingles were meant to be installed on a solid surface with no gaps. We also replaced a low-slope area of their roof with IKO's Roof-fast self-adhering membrane or SAM. We replaced two different types of roofs in one with at least three different types of roofing materials.

These homeowners were originally looking for a roof repair. After we completed a full evaluation of the roof, we determined it was not repairable due to the previous patchwork that was done with copious amounts of tar!

This roof was tarped and in very bad shape when we arrived. Upon further inspection, oriented strand board was used instead of plywood for the roof decking. The roof was leaking and there were multiple holes in the decking due to the use of the oriented strand board. Once OSB gets wet, it swells and stays wet, therefore retaining moisture. We only use plywood for roof decking to ensure the roof stays strong for years to come.

In Garrison, New York, we had a job install a completely new roof with 1/2” CDX plywood decking over the existing structural framing of the back porch. A single row of OC WeatherLock Ice & Water shield was then installed to all eaves and valleys. On top we have TrueDefinition Designer Aged Copper shingles, with matching hip & ridge shingles.

This was a cape style house with an additional two-car garage. The roof was 18 years old, with two layers that were removed and carefully disposed of. In addition, we installed ventilation within the roof, we also added a ridge vent to the garage. The finished shingles are Pacific Wave, and as always, are ensured by Klaus Larsen Roofing's 50-year warranty.  

The 'Ice & Water' membrane is vital because it is a final layer of protection against wind driven rain and pooled water. It also seals around nails and it is essential around flashed areas like vents, valleys and chimneys. The photo attached is a perfect example of why 'Ice & Water' membrane should cover these areas. Water can easily sneak by into your home if it is not sealed properly. 

Excessive moisture from a home in Patterson, New York made the homeowners request an inspection from our team at Klaus Larsen Roofing of Hudson Valley. Upon removing the shingles we saw the results of some serious water damage in the delaminated plywood. The plywood was splintering apart as a constant cycle of dampening and drying had unglued each layer of material. We were able to get new materials to redo the homeowners roof. A home in Putnam Valley, New York was ready for a roof replacement after 17 years. The customer got an initial recommendation from a coworker but was sold on the sales presentation and the products we use.
